MEDAL OF MERIT FOR SCOUT LEADER

Awarded To Wellington Commissioner Advice lias been received by the Dominion Headquarters of the Boy Scouts Association that the Governor-General, Lord Galway, as Dominion Chief Scout, has approved the award of the honorary medal of merit to Philip Thurston Smither, district commissioner of the Wellington North district and honorary metropolitan secretary for the Wellington city area. Mr, Smither has been associated with scouting in Wellington for the ast 14 years. His first appointment was as scoutmaster of the Terrace Yroop in 1926, from which position he was appointed group scout master of the same group. In 1934 he became district scoutmaster of the Wellington North district, being made a district commlsisoner in 1936. Mr. Smither is also a member of the Dominion executive of the association.
