SERIOUS ENCOUNTER
Western Front Detachments (Received February 11, 5.30 p.m.) PARIS, February 10. A communique states that between the Moselle and the Saar artillery fire has been markedly more active by both sides. An enemy raid was repulsed. A serious encounter took place during lunch in which Allied detachments suffered some losses, inferior, however, to those inillcten on the enemy.
President Lebrun visited the British troops and was enthusiastically cheered. He expressed admiration of the fine standard of the troops.
