The Hon. A. Hamilton. Leader of tlie Opposition, left Wellington by the steamer express on Saturday night for the South Island, after attending the Centennial celebrations at Waitangi and the National Party caucus at Wellington. Archdeacon J. R. Young, of Christ Church, Wanganui, will also attend the Anglican General Synod as u delegate from the Wellington Diocese. The Rt. Rev. G. V. Gerard, Bishop of Waiapu, is expected in Wellington today on his way to attend the General Synod of tlie Anglican Church at Nelson this week.

Mr. W. S. Wauchop, director of national pageantry, who lias been visiting North Auckland in connexion with the Waitangi Centennial celebrations, returned to Wellington on Saturday.

Captain S. R. Banyard, Dominion director of the Church Army in New Zealand, is visiting Wellington to attend a meeting of tlie Church of England Military /Affairs Committee.

Dr. Halliday Sutherland, the wellknown British author, lecturer, and physician, is visiting Invercargill. He will give an address there, and will then visit the glacier region of the West Coast.

The Rev. N. F. Benham, vicar of Toiaga Bay, lias been appointed vicar of the Waikouaiti Anglican Church, succeeding Archdeacon A. C. 11. Button, who has been appointed to St. John's, Roslyn. Dr. J. Gordon Gibbs, plant pathologist of the plant diseases division of the ‘Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, has been appointed agricultural adviser for three years to tlie administration of the Falkland Islands.

Air. W. 11. L. Roberts, postmaster at Dargaville. lias received notice of his transfer to Whangarei where he will replace Mr. L. Burns, the present postmaster. who luis been transferred to Hastings. Mr. W. Marell. postmaster at Kaitaia. will succeed Mr. Roberts.
