The Centennial Contest PROGRAMME FOR WEEK The New Zealand championship brass bands contest wil open in Wellington next Sunday, lasting for a week. There will be an official reception by the mayor of Wellington, Mr. Hislop, at the Basin Reserve on .Sunday at 2 p.m. and this will be followed by the hymn contest for A, B, and C grade bands. On Monday, February 19, there will be three sessions in the Town Hall and two in the concert chamber. At 9 a.m in the Town Hall there will be the llugel horn solo, followed by the E Hat soprano cornet solo. The euphonium solo will be at 2 p.m. and the first B grade test selection at 7 p.m. At 9 a.m. in the concert chamber there will be the tenor horn solo ami at 2 p.m. thf> G trombone and baritone solos.

At 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, there will be a boys’ solo (under 17 years) in the Town Hall and a B flat or BB flat bass solo in the concert chamber. At 2 p.m., the tenor trombone solo competition will be held in the Town Hall ami in the concert chamber the amateur B flat cornet solo. At 7 p.m., the first A grade test selection will be heard in the Town Hall.

On Wednesday February 21 at 9 a.m, there will be Ihe trombone trio in the 'J'ewu Hall and E Hat or EE Hat bass Mio in the concert chamber, the respective afternon items being B flat cornet championship (2 p.m.) ami bass and side drum solos (2.30 pan.).
