The five fire brigades in the Hutt Valley took part in the Hutt ) alley 1' ire Brigades’ Association's annual demonstration at Moera Park. Lower Hutt, on Saturday afternoon. Though most of the events were decided in teeming rain, competition was keen and a high standard wag maintained. . . The Walter Nash Cup for the brigade with the best aggregate in all the events was won by Petone, the points being as follows: —Petone, 75 points; Upper Hutt, 59J; Lower Hutt, 52; Eastbourne, 18; and Silverstream, 171. Boston (Featherston), Fireman J. Drieberg (Napier) ; T. Williams (Petone); H. Shardlow (Wellington); 11. Matson (Carterton) ; Messrs. Anderson (Wellington) ; T. Hudson (Lower Hutt): and IL Wakelin (Petone). Results were:—

Presentation Of Trophies

The 34th annual reunion of the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade was held in the fire station at Lower Hutt on Saturday night, Superintendent. T- W. Slinn presiding. The attendajice of about 60 included the mayor of Lower Hutt. Mr. Andrews, the member for' Wellington Suburbs. Mr. Combs and representatives of the Wellington. Napier, Featherston, Waipukurau, Masterton, Carterton, Pahiatua, Eastbourne, Petone. Silverstream and Upper .Hutt brigades. Mr. E. F. Hollands, general manager and Mr. J. B. Grey, assistant-manager, represent the Hutt Valley Power Board and Sergeant J. W. McHolm and Constable C. E. Tanner, the district police. During the evening, trophies competed for during the year were presented by Mr. Andrew.s as follows: —Bolt Cup for two-men motor event! Deputy-Superin-tendent H. G. Hume iind Fireman 11. D. Heeney; Andrews Cup for four-men motor event, Foreman L. V. Doran, assistant-foreman T. S. Slinn, firemen E. Hutton and J. Herion : Baldwin Memorial Cup for one-man motor event. Fireman E. Hutton who also secured fastest time; billiards cup, DeputySuperintendent H. G. Hume; snooker cup, Fireman E. Hutton. The trophies won at the demonstration that afternoon were also presented. Two years’ service bars were presented as follows: —Third Officer Drieberg, making a total of 13 years; Fireman N. Francis, making 11 years; Fireman W. Mullany, making 17 years; Dr. F. E. Bolt (honorary doctor), making seven years. A five-year service medal was presented to Fireman C. C. Bartley. The following toast list was honoured: “The King,” “Fire Prevention Committee” (proposed by Deputy-Superintendent 11, G. Hume and responded to by Mr. .1. W.
