Increase In Net Revenue
BETTER THAN ESTIMATE
Financial results of railway operation for the portion of lbe current liiurncial year from April 1, .1939, to January G. 1910, were announced yesterday bv'the Minister of Railways, Mr. Sullivan. He said that the preliminary figures showed the gross revenue for the period to be £7,330.721 ami tlie gross expenditure £0,815.034, indicating a net revenue of £-101,G87 for the 40 weeks up to January G. The net revenue position wirs £438.702 better than at the corresponding date in 1039. “I may say." added the Minister, “that the net revenue to January 0 is actually £21,000 tn excess of the amount on which the department s estimates for the budget were based, and this further confirms the opinion previously expressed that the net revenue of the department for the cuirent Hmrncial year will probably be in the vicinity of £1.250.000."
