CHINESE CLAIM
New Year’s Day Victory
A big Chinese victory on New Year’s Day is claimed in a message received from China. According to a Chinese military spokesman three columns of Japanese troops pushing northward from Canton were met by Chinese forces. After -IS hours’ lighting, the Japanese are said to have been forced back along Hie entire front with heavy casualties. —By radio.
