Free Spending; 500 Deaths From Violence NEW YORK. January 2. A total of 500 'deaths from violence during America’s Christmas and New Year celebrations included 292 from traffic accidents. 40 suicides, and 28 by homicide. It was the wildest season since 1929. It is estimated that 15,000,000 dollars were spent in New York.
