DOMINION BATTERY IN ENGLAND

Message .To New Zealand

LONDON, January 1.

Lord and Lady Willingdon and the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Mr. Jordan, and Mrs. Jordan inspected the anti-tank battery at Aidershot, composed of New Zealanders resident in England before the war. Lord Willingdon offered to act as their postman, if they wanted to send letters, when he left soon for New Zealand. Major Duff, officer commanding, asked him to take the battery’s best wishes to the Government and people of New Zealand. Mr. Jordan took the salute and march past. Officials are greatly impressed with the smartness and briskness of the New Zealand battery, after a short period of training. One-third of the personnel are absent on 'leave. The remainder were drawn up yesterday on the parade ground. Lord Willingdon paid a tribute to the battery’s appearance. He emphasized the strength and unity of the Empire’s ties.
