HARBOUR CRUISE
Board Members’ Voyage
Wellington Harbour Board members and executive staff, accompanied by their wives, had a harbour trip yesterday on the 457-ton tug Toia, when for two hours and ff half they cruised round the 20,000 acres of Port Nicholson that comes within the board’s jurisdiction. They were the guests of the chairman, Mr. M. A. Eliott and Mrs. Eliott, Palmerston North. The harbourmaster, Captain Peterson, with the tuginaster, Captain McMahon, were in charge of the Toia.
There was .sunshine with a north-west wind which was invigorating without being unpleasantly strong. Afternoon tea was served at sea by stewards who, signed on for the duration of the cruise, did a very good job. The cruise showed whirl an unrivalled view of the city'is obtainable from the harbour, and suggested possibilities of such daylight excursions for Centennial visitors.
