ANITA FOE GOES WELL

Gallops At Awapuni Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N., December 14. With tiue weather prevailing there wa s much activity ou the tracks this morning, the course proper being most in use. The flags were out about 40ft. There were some interesting gallops, but the times recorded were not rema’rkable. Ou Tuesday. Clarion Call (Janis) crossed six hurdles, and gave his usual polished display. •Ou Wednesday morning Nigger -Mark (Temperton) was schooled over the battens, and for a novice shaped satisfactorily.

Hunting Lore (Jarvis) went once round, jumping quickly and cleanly. Bass IW. McDowell), accomplished a similar task.

On Thursday Clarion Call (Janis) was again jumped,'and did his work well. Hunting Lore (Jarvis), who will most likely be raced at the Martou meeting, was again given a jumping lesson, tlie son of 'Hunting Song' accomplishing his task pleasingly. High Peer (Ted Pine), looking improved, was restricted to paeework. The Bigot (Morris) went six furlongs iu 1.24 1-5, and was running on solidly. Old Bill (Tattersail), who was not required to make time, moved in resolute fashion over a mile.

Sudan' (Broughton) and Brazil (Ireland) went well over seven furlongs, the last six iu 1.22 3-5.

King's Mark (Goulsbro) reeled off three furlongs in 38 4-5. Tidewaiter (Morris) easily held Caution (Stevens) at the close of six furlongs, the last five in 1.7 3-5. La Coquette (Williamson), Renascor (E. Stewart), and Daregain (Tattersail), traversed six furlongs in 1.21, there being little between them at the finish. Parian and Girl Pat held a slight advantage over Malik Kafur at the finish of seven furlongs, the last six registering 1.20 4-5. The trio are well forward for coming engagements.

Last Acre (Chaplin) and Bonuy Bunsby (Broughton) were restricted to a half-mile sprint, the last three in The latter bears an improved appearance.

After a let-up Old Surrey has agais made his appearance on the tracks. With P. Rae in the saddle, he went nicely over three furlongs in 42 2-5.

Tlie Buzzer (Redstone) and Colonel Bogey (Broughton) were partners over a mile gallop, umd. without being bustled, covered the hist six in 1.25.

Anita Foe (Temperton) is now putting some dash into her work, and the daughter of Defoe should race prominently at. some of the holiday fixtures. Without being required to give of her best, she galloped seven furlongs in resolute fashion.

Royal Sign ('Morris) and La Bru (Tattersall) pleased by the way they covered five furlongs, registering a shade over 1.7. Both are well forward. The Bulandshar filly Sceptre is rapidly making headway. She was responsible for a pleasing effort iu cutting out three furlongs in 39. Silvanus, looking in good racing fettle, was given a working gallop. Myarion (Chaplin) had a good bit in reserve at the end of five furlongs in 1.12. Laughing Lass (Redstone) held a slight advantage over Disdain (Pratt) in a run over six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. They bear a bright and healthy appearance. Catalogue (Broughton) worked over a mile, with a brush home over the last five in 1.9. Judging by his appearance, the racing on the “other side” has had no ill-effects.

The much improved Aurora’s Star (Temperton) completed seven furlongs in good style. Aoronit and Chary were allotted a three-furlong sprint which occupied 38. Du Maurier ('Williamson). under restraint, took 1.35 4-5 for seven furlongs. Among the horses given useful exercises were Florence 51 ills, Quadroon, Golden Ridge, Gold Chase, Bitmark, Thrasos, Brazil. Goldburn, Alchemic, Raeburn, Millament, De Brett, -Duncannon aud Boniden.

After having had a holiday, Sporting Gift resumed work this morning. E. W. Watson has tinder his supervision a four-year-old mare by Gainscourt from Queenly Nicely boned and possessing an easy action, this mare leaves the impression that she will eventually turn out useful. The other members of this stable are Golden Ridge, Gold Chase, Pitmark and Nigger Mark. Miss Hallomit has been entered for the juvenile events at the Stratford meeting and Du Maurier for the Cup and the Malone Memorial.

Wattie Pine has in his care three three-vear-olds —a well set-up gelding by Colossus—Vinella and a gelding by Colossus out of a Blockade mare. He is solidly built and looks the type for the hurdle business. The other is a gelding by Rocket.
