Wellington Market Steady
BUSINESS IMPROVES
Little change was seen yesterday in the Wellington stock and share market. Business was not brisk, but there was a slight improvement in the recorded turnover.. Government loans continued to hold the interest of buyers and the market was firm. Quoted prices, however, failed to attract sellers and the only reported deal was a sale of £l2OO of 4 per cent, stock, 1948. x, r, , Banks were firm and New Zealand sold at 40/0. Buyers offered £B/17/6 for Australasias and £l3/2/0 for National of Australasia without response. New Zealand Guarantee Corporations eased on sales from 3/10 to 3/9J. Christchurch Gas advanced to business at 20/3. Insurance shares were fully firm. There was a good inquiry for industrials which were quoted at steady rates.
