TODAY’S EVENTS
The large party of Maoris of the Arawa tribe at present visiting Wellington, in conjunction with the NgatiPoneke of Wellington, will present native concerts this afternoon at 3 o’clock and 4 o’clock in the Maori Court, tonight at 8 o’clock and 9 o’clock in the Maori Court, and at 8 o’clock and 9 o’clock in the Assembly Hall. These concerts are likely to prove most .popular. Each programme lasts approximately 45 minutes. The Wellington Boys’ Institute Band, conducted by Mr. Albert Iremonger, will play the following programme at 7.30 p.m. from the weather bandshell: —
Fanfare and National Anthem; march, “The Cossack” (Rimmer) ; selection. “Maritana” (Wallace) ; cornet duet, “The Swallows’ Serenade,” J. C. King and V. C. Jacobs (Mackenzie) : intermezzo, “Bells Across the Meadows” (Ketelbey) ; foxtrot, “Ten Pretty Girls” (Carr and Kennedy) ; waltz, “Sweethearts” (Herbert) ; popular, “Lazy Pete” (Werner-Kersten) ; march, “Down the Mall” (Billon) ; selection, “Classic Gems” (Rimmer) ; Nicholls’s march version of “Home on the Range” (Goodwin) ; foxtrot, “Grandma Said” (Wrubel) : gavotte, “Hearts and Flowers” . (Tobani) ; march, “Holyrood” (Alford) ; anthem. “God Defend New Zealand” (Woods).
