OBITUARY

Douglas Fairbanks, Sen.

HOLLYWOOD, December 12. The death has occurred from heartfailure of the film actor, Douglas Fairbanks, senior. Douglas Fairbanks, one of the bestknown actors in the silent days of tlie films, was born in Denver in 1883 and educated there and at Hie Colorado School of Mines. lie made his first appearance on the stage in New York in 1901, and later went into tlie films, becoming head of his own producing unit, in 1916. He was three times married, his second wife being Mary Pickford (they tyere divorced in 19351, and his third' Lady Ashley. His fame in the movies was won largely by his athletic feats, which will lie remembered in such pictures as "The Three Musketeers,” “The Thief of Bagdad," and “Robin Hood.”
