Newtown’s New Green On Saturday afternoon the Newtown Bowling Club officially opened its new gi eeu. Mr. G. Booth, who had supervised the formation of the green, in banding over to Mr. W. Denby, president of t.he elub. gave an interesting account of the work, and mentioned the assistance be had received from Mr. W. Lewis (greenkeeper), and the valuable voluntary work of Mr. IL Welton and other members of the club. The president, in ollicially opening tlie green, thanked Messrs. Booth, Welton. Lewis, mid all others, who had brought the work to such a successful conclusion, and expressed the opinion that the new rinks would have as good a playing surface as the main green, which this season was in excellent condition. Mr. Denby also referred to the foresight of the committee of many years ago in acquiring the extra strip of land. Now that the membership was well over 106. the extra playing area would relieve the difficulties experienced last season in providing playing accommodation for all members.
