Fighting On Western Front ADVANCE OUTPOSTS Battle In Salient Into Enemy Line By Telegraph.—“ Press Assn.“ Copyright. (Received December 13, 9.30 p.m.) PARIS, December 13. A French communique says commentators state that intense fighting has been raging for 24 hours along a line of advance outposts in territory which is about six miles wide, forming a salient into the general enemy line. “During the night, the latest information shows, there have been short encounters in the region between the Saar.and Warndt Forest,” says another French communique. “During the day there has been another engagement with artillery actions in the same region. Our outpost line everywhere remains intact.”
The French official morning communique reports patrol activity at several points of the front. A German army communique states: “East of the Moselle there was slight enemy artillery action and harassing fire on our advanced posts.” A report from Luxemburg states that lively artillery fire was heard yesterday morning. A statement issued by the British Expeditionary Force Headquarters says the British front-line troops made a second night patrol in rain and mist in No-Man’s-Land and obtained valuable information.
