Wellington Market Quiet MOUNT LYELLS HIGHER Trading was quiet on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday and the turnover was restricted. The market, however. was generally firm and prices of several issued showed a hardening tendency. A feature of the market was an advance in Mount Lyells, which sold to 32/6, business being reported from other centres at up to 33/9. Barriers and Electrolytic Zines also improved. Government loans were in good demand at firm rates. A fair-sized lot of 4 per cent, stock, 1954-58, sold at £9B/5/-, and 4 per cent., 1948, went at £lOO/2/6. Bank shares were quietly firm. New Zealands sold at 40/6. and buyers of Australasias advanced to £B/17/6. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile ordinary stock was marked up 20/- to £23. Insurance shares maintained their strength. Industrials were quiet and little changed.
