RICCARTON WORK

Horses For Ellerslie Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCIirRCH, December 12. The interest of track vv.'ileber.s at Rieearlou this morning was centred on the work of liorscs booked Io be shipped to Auekhilul tomorrow, and all went the reverse way on the outside of the trial grass, wiiieh, alter the previous days welcome rain, was in good order. Stylist reeled off half a mile in 50 2-5, and her, stablemate, thnapo, took o2 1-5. The former appears to be on lhe improve, mid may strike form at Ellerslie. Omapo, who shows more promise than his brother, Haerepo, at tlie same age, should be worth following on the trip. A. Messervy and tlie stable apprentice, A. Johnson, will do the riding of tlie pair at the meet-

ing. Spartan and Doria ran half a mile in 52 1.-5, without being seriously ridden. Both are in excellent order, and widespread interest will be shown in Doria’s efforts against the best of the North Island juveniles. On her form to date she is entitled to be seriously considered. Spartan has been somewhat disappointing of late, and can hardly bo recommended as a betting propos-ition on the trip. Paper Slipper and Great Swoop strode over six furlongs in 1.20 2-5, AA’ild Talk was to have had a similar gallop, blit suffered from shoulder lameness, and it will not be decided till tomorrow whether she will accompany Paper Slipper ami Great Swoop to Auckland. This filly Ims shown herself to be above the ordinary, and it will be unfortunate for her connexions if she lias to be left at home.

Moorsotis had Rebel Queen as a companion in a working gallop over seven furlongs in 1.34. Aloorsotis again went well, and his prospects, specially in minor eventSj of winning some money at Ellerslie. appear Io be bright.

Dictate, looking benefited by his race at Hororata, was given a strong gallop over a mile, taking 1.44 3-5. Night Dress accompanied him over tlie last five furlongs. Dictate is to be sent to Auckland tomorrow, and will not race at Te Rapa on Saturday. H. AViggins, who was tentatively engaged some weeks back to ride Dictate in the Auckland Cup, indicated yesterday that lie may he required for Birthday Boy. and C. Wilson was immediately engaged. AVilson has ridden Dictate in all of his recent races, including lhe New Zealand Oup. 'The experience thus gained should he helpful to him over the two-mile journey at Ellerslie.
