Excellent Display At Karori Yesterday

HIGH QUALITY OF EXHIBITS

An excellent display of spring flowers, particularly daffodils, was made at the spring show of the Karori Horticultural Society in the parish hall yesterday. The attendance was larger than usual, both in the afternoon and evening, and the high quality of the exhibits caused many favourable comments.

A feature of the non-competitive displays was an exhibition of traditional Japanese shrub decorations by Mrs. K. Gunji. Other outstanding displays were those of Mr. 11. Poole, Lo’wer Hutt, and of the gardening circle of the Karori branch of the Townswomen’s Guild,

The judges were: —Decorative and children's sections, Miss Cooper; cut flowers, Mr. R. A. Nicoll: daffodils, Mr. T. Waugh, jun. The president of the society, Mr. R. R. Martin, introduced Mrs. Catherine Stewart. M.P.. who opened the show.
