Hourly Newsreel Sessions At Regent Theatre An innovation for Wellington will be’the presentation at the Regent Theatre from Friday next of regular newsreel sessions at hourly intervals from 11 a.in. to 2 p.m. Extremely popular overseas is the newsreel theatrette where business men and women shoppel’s and others can in a short while gain an impression of the latest happening's in other parts of the world. With the Empire at war, interest in world affairs lias quickened considerably, and the lime is opportune for a newsreel service in the city. Arrangements have been completed for tiie dispatch to New Zealand by airmail of the latest newsreels from the United Slates of America, England, Australia and Europe. Thus, those who attrnid the newsreel theatre regularly will be able to keep abreast of the ipiick-cltanging panorama of overseas events. Highlights of next Friday’s programme will include Lord Halifax’s broadcast to the world late in August and exclusive pictures of the crisis days in London. in ,-iddtioii to a comprehensive programme of newsreel, such short subjects as the mueh-dlscussed featuretie "This Place, Australia,” will be included. Produced in the Commonwealth, this film gives the scenic background to some of the better-known poems of Henry Lawson, Australia's virile writer of verse. The photography is brilliant, and altogether the picture is both refreshing and inspiring.
