DEFAULTER TO RETURN TO NEW ZEALAND
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, September 25. Trainer F. A. Roberts has stated that no further attempt will be made to train Defaulter this spring. He will be sent back to New Zealand early next month and turned out for a long spell. The “Herald” says: “Beau Vite, by winning the Clarendon Stakes, and Gold Salute, by his striking success in the Rowley- Mile at the Ilawkes-bury meeting, both did impressive trials for their Derby' engagements next Saturday. The manlier in which Beau Vite galloped as he went past the post left no doubt about his ability to run the Derby distance, and Gold Salute’s victory was achieved with such ease that there is no saying how good he is. BeatL Vite looks the Derby winner, with Gold Salute the hardest to beat.”
