Anticyclone Covers New Zealand Following is the weather report and the forecast for wind and seas issued by the Meteorological Oilice, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. today :— General situation: An .anticyclone covers New Zealand, while conditions are disturbed over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds light to moderate and variable, with south-easterlies at first; over the North Island, but northwesterlies gradually prevailing in. the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters) : .Moderate to rather rough on the east, coast of the North Island, but decreasing, and elsewhere slight. Eastern Tasman Sea: Eight to moderate winds with south-easterlies in the northern portion, and freshening north-westerlies in the southern portion. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER Wellington: The day was cold with a light southerly breeze, but flue and sunny. Minimum temperature Tuesday night, 29.1; maximum yesterday, 46.8; at 3 p.m., 44.7. Barometer, 1025.7 millibars, which i.s 30.2901 n. Palmerston North: A glorious .sunny day, with brief passing clouds and practically no wind. New Plymouth: Warm sunshine, south to east wind. Barometer at 5 p.m., 1022.6 millibars. Wanganui: Fine and sunny all day, but cold at night. Sea slight swell. The barometer reading at 4.30 p.m.' was 1027.3 millibars.
