Hansen Beats McKay In Wanganui Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, August 2. In a hard-hitting professional bout in Wa’nganui tonight Tom Hansen (Wellington) won a points decision oyer Bryan AlcKay (Auckland), who substituted for L Wise (Auckland). In the opening round McKay piled up points with powerful punches which connected to the race and bodv, but after the fifth round Hansen showed good ringcraft and began to make up leeway. The last three rounds of the 10-round bout were willing both men wading in at close range, which was to the liking of the crowd. The decision in favour of Hansen was well received, though the margin must have been close, as McKay was going strong in the last round. , In a special amateur bout J. Marco (Wellington), a British Olympic representative, beat B. Maddern (Hawera)> New Zealand flyweight champion, ou points in a bout of six rounds. March impressed with his ringcraft and his allround ability, and Aladdern, who was giving away 101 b., was not afraid to mix it and won” acclaim for his pluck. Both men were applauded for a spirited fight. The amateur bouts were of a high standard. There was a large attendance.
