WELCOME HOME
District Governor Of Rotary
Mr. D. A. Ewen, District Governor of Rotary in New Zealand, was accorded a special welcome home at yesterday’s luncheon of the Wellington Rotary Club. The president, Mr. E. B. Hay, said they were very glad to see their chief return so hale and hearty after his visit to the world convention in America.
Mr. Ewen said that he was glad to be back among his friends after having travelled so far and fast during the last ten weeks. His experience had been very wonderful, as had those of all district governors who had visited America. It had been an interesting time to go abroad, and a particularly interesting time to visit the United States.
“As for Rotary control,” said Mr. Ewen, “I can tell you it is in very good hands. The present chief, Walter Head, is a specially fine man. I know that because I played golf with him on two occasions, and he never once lost patience. I bring greetings from the mother Chicago club, and many whom I met at the convention sent greetings to those New 7 Zealand Rotarians they had met at previous conventions. The District Governor of England, Tom Young, was another fine man. As we had been near contemporaries at the same school, there were many mutual friends to talk about.
