SERIES OF THEFTS
Doors Of Wellington Shops Forced A series of thefts which involved several shops occurred in Wellington during the weekend. Three shops were entered and an unsuccessful attempt was made to enter a fourth. The Wellington Bowling Club's pavilion in Aro Street, was also entered. It appears that the thefts were all committed by tlie same person or persons. A fruit and confectionary shop conducted by Mrs. I. R. H. l.’ullau at 30 Cuba Street was entered between I p.m. on. Saturday and 8.40 p.m. the same day. About 18/- in pennies and halfpennies and six tins of cigarettes were taken. The front door was forced. The Meca Tearooms, Mercer Street, conducted by Mrs. B. M. Taylor, were entered between 2.30 p.m. and 10.50 p.m. on Satuday, the front door being jemmied, Amout £1 in pennies was taken, and 30/- in Australian silver. I leg of mutton and a leg of pork were taken from a butcher's shop conducted by Mr. It. G. Bonisch at. 70 Aro Street. The front door was jemmied some time on Saturday night:. The Dominion Beauty Parlour in .Mercer Street was broken into between 7 p.m. ou Saturday and 4.30 p.m. on Sunday, the front door being forced with a jemmy. Hair clippers, scissors, and £2/12/6 in money were taken. An unsuccessful attempt: to enter a dairy shop in the Blythswuod Flats building at. the corner of Willis and Aro Streets was made between 1) p.m. on Saturday and 12.30 a.m. ou Sunday. The Wellington Bowling Club's pavilion had the door jemmied between Il p.m. on Saturday and 9.30 a.m. on Sunday.
