WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Wellington Executive Meeting The executive of the Wellington Basketball Association met last evening, there being present Miss O. Wharton (in the chair), Mesdames H. D. Muir, A. Muir, Calder, Allen, Jenkins, Mclnnes, Haul, and Misses V. Stone, P. McGoldrich, M. C. Armstrong, D. Frew, Hazlewood aud Daniells. . ’ Miss K. Blatch wrote saying that she regretted not being able to accept a position on the executive. It was decided to ask Miss D. Martin (Taupo) to act. It was decided that the Canterbury team be entertained at afternoon tea after the game on Saturday, August 12, at a dance on Saturday night, and a motor drive on Sunday. The team will arrive on the Saturday morning and return oi> Monday evening. Arrangements were made for the senior B representative team to travel to Hutt on Saturday to play a game against the senior Hutt team, with Mrs. Qalder as manager. The senior B matches’ will he played early to allow of this. The following captains were appointed: Senior A, Miss J. Mitchell; viee-captnin, Miss J. Crewes. Senior B, Miss E. Hawkey ; vice-captain, Miss G. Anderson. Third grade, Miss E. Robertson; vice-cap-tain, Miss N. Douglas. In regard to the protest of Roseneath against the refereeing of its match against Aitkens, it was decided that the game be not replayed. The treasurer reported that £5/1/- had been made at the games evening, that Kia Ora won the games cup, aud J, Vesta (Onslow) the goal-tlirowiug competition. Letters of thanks are to be sent to Mr. J. Cowie and other helpers on that oceasion. Mrs. E. Calder and Mrs. R. S. Mclnnes were nominated as delegates to the New Zealand Basketball Council, and Mrs. MeIness was elected. Mr. Budden was appointed referee for the senior B v. Canterbury game on August 12. Miss E. Mclness and Mr. Walker were appointed sideline stewards. Letters were received from Canterbury and Auckland nominating Wellington as the centre for the New Zealand executive for next year. Permission was received from the city ; council for the use of Hataitai courts for the New Zealand tournament at Easter, ■ IMOPermission was granted to St. Anne s, ’ Guildford, St. Joseph’s and Hutt Convent ■ Old Girls to play in the annual Catholic ' tournament. Permission was granted to Roseneath 1 fourth to take part in the tournament in „ Napier.
