FIFTY-SIXTH APPEARANCE
Woman Charged With Loitering
“This is your fifty-sixth appearance,” said Mr. J. H. Duxford. S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday when Cecelia Old, aged 53, a domestic, appeared on a charge of loitering on the Witako Prison Reserve, Heretaunga. Old was ordered to come up for sentence it called on within 12 months. Sub-Inspector D. J. 0 2seill said that at 1.50 p.in. on Saturday the superintendent of the prison saw accused walking toward the prison. He saw her hide something in the grass beside the road, which he later found to be an empty whisky flask. He approached her at the main entrance to the prison and found she was well under the influence of liquor. She demanded to see her husband, but was told she could not while she was under the influence of liquor. She refused to leave and used very vile language to the superintendent. She began to hammer on the door where the prisoners were exercising and call out to her husband. She had a very bad record. Mr" Duxford said it was four years since Old had been before the Court.
