UNUSUAL HONOUR

Mr. & Mrs. J. Livingston, Dannevirke SERVICES TO FARMERS Unusual honour was recently conferred upon Mr. and Mrs. J. Livingston, of Dannevirke district, when they were made life members of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union and the Women’s Division of the union respectively, in recognition of many years of service to the farming community. Mr. Livingston is also a life member of the Southern Hawke’s Bay provincial Farmers’ Union.

At the provincial executive meeting last week Mr. and Mrs. Livingston were warmly congratulated.

In addition to his work for the Farmers’ Union, Mr. Livingston has not spared himself in public service in other directions, and the following are some of the bodies of which he is or has been a member: —Howard Estate Board, the Hawke's Bay Rural Intermediate Credit Board, Hawke’s Bay Land Board, Dannevirke A. and P. Association, of which he was president for some years, Dannevirke Power Board, War Relief Association, Dannevirke Borough Council, Dannevirke High School Board. The honour bestowed on Mrs. Livingston was a token of her exceptional service for more than 10 years. During that time she has been a member of the Dominion executive of the Women’s Division at regular intervals. Two of her outstanding works were compiling the Women’s Division household guide, which ran into a circulation of 30,000, and editing the centennial guide book which is expected to set a new record. Mrs. Livingston is a member of the Trained Nurses’ Association. She is prominently known for her .humanitarian work in Dannevirke and district.
