FORCED LANDING BY BOMBER

Returning From Pageant In Palmerston North MACHINE UNDAMAGED Dominion Special Service LEVIN, July 30. While returning from Hie air pageant held in Palmerston North yesterday, the New Zealand Air Force bomber 51266 made a forced landing at Paiaka, a few miles from Koputaron, at about 3.30 p.m. It appears that the plane's engine gave trouble when approaching Levin, and the pilot, having circled over the Koputaron swamp area, selected a landing area close to the Manawatii River stopbank, where be landed without damage to the machine, but knocking down a fence in the process. It is understood that after having arranged for a picket from Wellington Hie pilot and observer of the plane returned to Wellington by car last night When interviewed today the picket and Mr. C. E. ('. Webb, owner of the property on which the plane landed, declined to give any information apart from the fact that it is expected that the machine will take the air tomorrow or Tuesday.
