I Annual Meeting And Dinner I The dinner which preceded the annual meeting of the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A., held in the association rooms, Petone, was a successful innovation introduced by the committee. The • women’s auxiliary were responsible for . the arrangements. The president, Air. . C. G. Hedge; presided, and at the official . table with him were the Rev. J. Lopdell, I vice-president, and Airs. Lopdell; Air. H. AV. Kersley,.vice-president, and Airs. Ker- . sley; Airs. C. G, Hedge, president of the women’s auxiliary, and Air. R. Brasted, secretary of the National Y.M.U.A. Council of New Zealand. It was reported that an outstanding feature of the year was the changes that occurred in the staff. Air. A. C. Edwards, who had been general secretary from the inception of the association m the district, had resigned to further his knowledge of the work overseas. To enable him to obtain further experience in a larger centre, Mr. B. Dallinger, the boys’ work secretary, transferred to the Auckland association. The vacancy for general secretary and physical director was filled by Mr. C. L. Cato, formerly of the Nelson association. To overcome the impersonal atmosphere the association subdivided the membership into small clubs. Plans were in hand for the extension of the work to the Waterloo, V.1.C., and Aloera areas. The annual camp was held at Alorrison’s Bush. 40 boys attending, but there was a monetary loss. To assist the finances an official collector canvassed the valley with very satisfying results. Appreciation was expressed to the women's auxiliary, who, as well as greatly assisting the association financially, purchased tents for use at the annual eamps, and are now planning to renovate the lounge and rehabilitate the furniture. ' A satisfactory position was shown by the report of the treasurer, Air. A. E. Lainlbourn. The membership of the association now stands at 311. New board members elected were: Mrs. C G. Hedge and Mrs. A. Miller; Alessrs. J. B. Grey, T. Raine, A. Miller, J. AV-. J. Kennedy and J. Kerr.
