HOCKEY UMPIRES
Need For More Finance Stressed A decision to ask the Wellington Hockey Association for a generous subscription was made by the Wellington Hockey Umpires’ Association at its annual meeting. Mr. W. G. Purves presided. The secretary, Mr. R. H. Rolle, said that the scope of the association was too limited with the funds at its disposal, aud that a demand should be made on the hockey association for a definite income. Mr. C. P. McKenzie objected to the use of the word demand, saying that he felt, that the hockey association would be more than willing to help when asked. It had always been generous in the past. Air. S. B. Browne said he thought that perhaps members’ subscriptions could be increased. Mr. W. Jenkinson said that a portion of the levies paid to the Wellington Hockey Association by players, should be given to the umpires' association. Mr. H. F. Bollard moved that a generous subscription be requested from (be Wellington Hockey Association. The motion was carried. The following officers were elected : —■ President, Mr. W. G. Purves: viee-presi-dent, Messrs. W. Dredge, Lloyd and Whitham; secretary and treasurer, Mr. It. H. Rolle; management committee, Messrs. S. Browne, W. Dredge, and N. Giles; examination committee, Messrs. H. Bollard, H. Hatch, and W. Purves; appointment board, Messrs. S. Browne, AV. Dredge, and R. Rolle; delegate to Wellington Hqckey Association. Mr. Purves; delegates to the New Zealand Hockey Umpires’ Association, Messrs. Dredge and Rolle. Mr. W. J. Dredge was given A grade grading, and six new members were elected.
