; Averages For Past Season The -Midland Cricket Club’s first eleven, which won the senior championship for the 1038459 season, owed its success more to good teamwork than to individual performances. The batting averages were headed by E. W. Tindill, who. in 11 innings, three times not out, aggregated 432 runs at the good average of 54 an innings. He owed pride of place to his innings of 201 not out against University in the second series of the knock-out competition. In all the team scored • 2625 runs in 112 innings, which, with 18 not outs, gave the side the good average of 27.92 a wicket. Bowling honours were carried off by R. O'Neill, who sent down no fewer than 244.5 overs, and secured 52 wickets at a cost of 15.13 a wicket. The Midland bowlers sent down 705.2 overs, of which 61 were maidens, and took 137 wickets for 2925 runs, giving an average of 21.70 a wicket. There were five century partnerships, Tiinlill figuring in four of them. Following are the complete averages for the season :— Batting.
