FIRE IN TARARUA RANGES
Large Area Of Bush Destroyed Dominion Special Service CARTERTON, April 17. Practically all today fire raged in the Tararua ranges at the back of Dalefield and Carrington, a large area of bush being destroyed. Cloud's of smoke could be seen from as far away as Masterton and tonight flames were brilliantly reflected in the sky and could be seen from many miles away. 'Though there have been many bush fires in the Tararuas this year, today’s blaze was the largest and most spectacular and was watched from a distance by a great number of people. No damage was done to private property, though it is stated that some settlers were anxious for a time.
