The Feilding Jockey Club is extensively watering the course proper in order to ensure good ' going for the forthcoming Easter meeting. A Good Suggestion. A Napier correspondent, ”N.Z.,’’ makes the following suggestion which will appeal to most racegoers:—"Should Defaulter meet Ajax during his campaigning iu Australia, do you think it would be possible for the Broadcasting Board to have a running commentary of the race relayed to New Zealand. I am quite sure that there are many thousands- of New Zealanders, besides those who are interested in racing, who would welcome the chance to listen-in to this much-dis-cussed and extremely interesting duel.” Australian racing from the most important tracks is- broadcast on short wave, and can be picked up iu New Zealand by owners of such sets. The Broadcasting Service here is very up-to-date in rebroadcasting events of interest abroad, as is shown by its intention to broadcast a description of the race in which Defaulter will run today. No doubt it will also give consideration to a Defaulter-Ajax clash. Wairarapa and Riccarton. A. Jenkins will be riding at Wairarapa. and will then go down to Riccarton to ride Arctic King in the Great Autumn Handicap. Change of Stables. Rarotonga is being transferred from Awapuni to the Opaki stable of A. Jenkins. Rarotonga showed promise early in the season, but he has failed to improve. Up For Resale. They are both two-year-old fillies,' by Gustavo, one out of Water Power, and one out of Call Bird. Will Not Be the Only One. Tom Tom’s-win at Hastings on Thursday was her first success on the turf, though she had previously run into places. Judging by the way she won she has definitely improved, and will soon be beard of again. Was Not In. Though Hunting Squire was telegraphed as an acceptor for the Bottkawa Maiden at Hastings on Thursday, be was not on the official card. In Good Order. Black Thread is looking very well, and for a fresh horse ran a good race on Thursday at Hastings. The going at present is a little bit firm for him, as he likes it easy. He will race at Feilding at Easter. Two in Succession.
