The reinforcement of the French garrison in Somaliland is regarded in official circles as “worsening an already dangerous situation.” It is strongly indicated that Italy will take “adequate precautionary military measures.” ITALIANS ARRESTED Alleged Espionage In Tunis (Received February 21, 9 p.m.) LONDON, February 21. It is reported from Tunis that 16 Italians, including the head of tbe Immigration Department of the Italian Consulate, have been arrested and charged with espionage, says the Paris representative of “The Times.” Tbe Jibuti correspondent of the British United Press says that several Italians and natives are reported to have been arrested on charges of espionage, and that further arrests are expected. The Foreign Under-Secretary. Mr R. A. Butler, said in tlie House of Commons that Italy bad intimated that the sending of 30,000 troops to ensure the security of Libya was not to be regarded as n breach of the AngloItalian agreement. It was admitted that it would restore the garrison to the strength as before the agreement.
