Youth Night Attracts Large Crowd The highlight of Youth Night in the Fitness Week programme at the Hutt Recreation Ground last evening was the box' scout camp lire groups. More than 100 scouts took part in a demonstration of the erection of tents in quick time. Then lights were set in each tent and fires lit outside. The electric lights ol the ground were shut off and the full effect ol the display was apparent. It was a worthy finale to a programme which showed the youth of the district at thenbest. It dosed with the valley scouts who attended the recent Australian jamboree giving hakas and the singing of the good-night song by the full assembly. The attendance at the’gronnd was close on 2000. The display was preceded by a procession, in uniform, by those taking part in the demonstration. Air. C. Halford was procession marshal. Territorials, Hutt Valley High School girl and boy pupils, boxing and basketball teams, members of the health and beauty movement, scouts, Y.M.C.A. gymnasts, and the Hutt Valley pipe. band, formed the procession The boxing display was given by pupils of Mr. J. Dunn, Moera. Miss Caroline Ward led the health and beauty movement members in rhythmic exercises, and Alias Ward also gave a solo dance which was botli graceful and, performed on the grass under electric light illumination, novel. The drill displays of t.he high school pupils were effective and well applauded. Basketball was spectacular and indicated the possibilities of the regular inclusion of this game in night sports gatherings. .. The mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr. J. W. Andrews, expressed pleasure at the size of the attendance which, lie said, was a good augury for the success of Fitness Week and an indication of t.he keen interest the people of the valley had h) their young people.

NEW OFFICES FOR POWER BOARD

The Hutt Valley Electric Power Board is having plans and specifications prepared for new offices, details of which will be available after the next board meeting in March.
