WANGANUI TRACKS

Good Trial By Entail Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, February 21. The Wanganui Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, which opens ou Thursday, gives promise of being a successful one. The course i» in splendid order and some good, racing is assured. The defection of Beaupartir will take some interest out of the cup, but there is material enough for a fine race. Ideal conditions prevailed for today’s track work, and there were some interesting .gallops. The only visiting horses to put in an appearance so far are Tiger Gain, Jacynth, and Parquet. An interesting gallop was that in which two cup candidates, Tiger Gain and Entail, were associated over a mile on' the course proper, with the trestles out about 15 feet. Entail (S. T. Edwards) jumped off two lengths clear of Tiger Gain, and was in front all the way, running the first three furlongs in 40, and the halfmile in 524. He increased hie lead to finish about five lengths to the good in 1.44 1-5. It was a good performance by Entail, as he was checked early to give Tiger Gain a chance to draw up, but the latter was still in the rear at the halfmile, and over the last furlong Entail was galloping very’ freely and drawing away. With an even break, Tiger Gain, who looks very fit, might have done considerably better. War Lap (Edwards) went six furlongs by himself in I.ISJ, (ho last five in 1.5 2-5. Ho was going well within himself all the way. This gelding is very fit, and should give a good account of himself in his engagements this week, which include the Tayforth Hack on Thursday. Lady Hoariri (J. Head) was schooled over two hurdles, which she cleared in good style, and then, with R. Horne in the saddle, was associated with Da,rthura (Edwards) in a spin over half a mile. Darthura finished a shade in front in 50 2-5. Jacynth was given trotting and cantering work, and Homily put in two rounds of useful pacing, Airing was restricted to slow work. March Easy (Horne) slipped over half a mile in a .shade under 50, and did it in a style which suggests she should, get into the money’ soon. She is to run. in the maiden on Thursday. After breakfast Baron Bold went five furlongs on the course proper in 02. Amatory (Edwards) and Amigo (R. Bentley) were associated in a six furlong spin on the course proper. The former was pacemaker over the first three furlongs. but Amigo was on terms at the turn for home and drew out to finish two lengths ahead in 1.15, It was a good effort on the part of both horses. The first half was done a shade under 50. Amatory is to run in the Victory Hack Handicap and will be ridden by S. T. Edwards. Amigo never looked better, and shopld give a good account of himself in tile Flying Handicap. The Tryst and the Lord Warden mare in W. H. Dwyer’s stable slipped over three furlongs in 39 1-5. The former is to race on Saturday. PayquX. looking bright, and well, was given a good working gallop.
