N.Z. HELP FOR BUSH FIRE RELIEF
Victorian Government Starts Inquiry (Received January 25, 10.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, January 25. Already £130,000 Is available for bush fire relief, and each mail from New Zealand brings contributions to the “Argus” fund. The sum of £4 was collected from guests at the Tongarlro Chateau who arrived on Monday. A Royal Commission has been appointed 'by the Government to inquire into the causes and prevention of bush fires. It will begin the hearing of evidence on Tnestfay. The Government Is also providing £40,000 for road works in the fire areas 'to assist the men who lost their jobs.
