Motor-Cyclist Admits Intoxication A motor-cycle driven along Riddiford Street in an erratic manner on the afternoon of January 24 attracted the attention of a police constable ami led to the appearance in the Magistrates’ Court. Wellington, yesterday, of Raymond Erie Fuller, cook, aged 21, who was senteneed to 14 days’ imprisonment for being intoxicated while in charge of Hie machine. The ease wa< heard before Mr J. 11. Luxford. S.M. Fuller pleaded guilty, and lhe magistrate said it was a miracle that accused. his pillion rider, and other people on the road escaped injury. lhe only way to deal witli these cases was to show Hie severity of rhe offence by imposing imprisonment. Senior Sergeant D. O Neill said a constable on dnry in Riddiford Street at 1.25 p.m. saw a motor-cycle with a pillion rider behaving in an erratic 11111111101' and wobbling all over the road The constable boarded a tram and warelied the motor-cycle ahead, it came to a traffic stop and both occupants fell off. but mounted the machine again and continued their journey. The constable then followed them in a taxi as far as Cambridge Terrace. The motor-cyclist ami his pillion rider were both drunk, and Fuller was certified by a doctor as being in a grossly intoxicated condition.
Fuller's driving licence was cancelled for 12 months.
