Second-Quality Store Lambs Cheaper At Waipukurau

WAIPUKURAU, January 24. Values for forward store lambs were well maintained at the Waipukurau stock sale today, but prices for second quality offerings revealed an easing tendency. Five thousand lambs were yarded, including small offerings of breeding ewes and two-tooth wethers.
A line of 237 fairly-grown woolly Romney cross forward lamb wethers, just weaned, on behalf of J. Goring Johnston, Tamamu, realized 16/-, and 108 medium-grown woolly Romney cross wether lambs, bright conditioned, brought 15/3. A line of 172 early-shorn forward well-grown two-tooth wethers, account .1. R. Robertson, met with a keen demand, realizing 16/1. Aged ewes, late-shorn, fairly well framed, mixed months, live mid six-yoar, brought 9/- for a line of 116. The highest figure of fat sheep was 19/6 for 19 medium-grown prime Southdown cross lambs. Eleven early-shorn Wimbledon prime wethers made 18/4, and two-toot hs 17/3.
The highest mark for fat cattle was £6 7/6 for seven small Hereford heifers, which were passed, as were two other pens of heifers.
The store cattle entry was also very small. The top price was £B/16/- for eleven three-year forward medium-sized steers, which, with two other offerings, were passed.
