Heavy Australian Supplies

CHILLED BEEF LOWER Laniib market easier, on the heavier Australian supplies. Trade generally slow, but our new season's meeting with lair inquiry. Mutton market: \> ethers, better inquiry, with prices steady. Ewes weak, owing to poor demand. Beef market: jiTozeu beet meeting with lair trade; chilled heel, good tram, but prices lower on the week. New Zealand porker pigts; Saade easier wi the qu,et demand. New Zealand baconer pigw: Easier, owing to weak bacon market. Boneless bobby veal: Weaker tendency owing to heavier supplies. The, lamb market is quiet. The market is slightly easier all round and the demand for New' Zealand mutton is poor. Brices, where changed, are in buyers* favour. Wethers: There is a better inquiry for lightweights and the market is steadier. Ewes: The market is yery quiet, with little inquiry. Chilled beef: The market is steady and no material change expected yet. Fork: The market is firmer. Trade generally is slow. Retail Prices In London The Meat Board has been advised by its London office that the followingretail prices were being quoted for New Zealand lamb and mutton retailed in London during December. These prices represent a fair average of the prices quoted by the better class shops in London for the best quality of New Zealand lamb and mutton. New Zealand lamb: Legs, 13d. a lb.; shoulders, lid.; loins, lid.; necks. 6d.; breasts. 3d.: forequarters, 9d. ; hindquarters. 11 Id.
