Wellington Exchange Quiet MARKET UNCHANGED Little change and no improvement were seen yesterday in the Wellington stock and share market which continued weak and sluggish. Trading was inactive, a small turnover being recorded. There was more inquiry for Government loans, which remained weak. Sales of the 4 per cent, stocks were made at low rates, the 1943-46 maturity going at £9B 7/6, the 1946-49 at £9B/2/6, and the 1952-55 at £96/7/6. Banks were dull with an easy, tendency. E.S. and A.’s were wanted at £5/5/-, sellers asking £5/9/6, as compared with a sale on Wednesday at £5/9/3. A. sale was reported from Auckland at £5/6/-. New Zealaiids sold unchanged at 40/-, buyers staying in at 39/8. Business was done in Bunedin at 39/9 to 40/-. New Zealand industrials were weak and neglected. Gear Meats were wanted at 11/6 and there were sellers of N.Z. Refrigerating at 17/3 and the 10/- paid at 8/-. zYustralians were quoted at firm rates and were well held. London Wool Sales

The inspector of the Union Bunk of Australia Limited has received the following cable message from the bank’s produce department in London : —At. wool sales about to open here it is anticipated .. prices as compared with last sales will be approximately: Merinos, par to 5 per cent, cheaper: crossbreds, par to o per cent, cheaper tine, ’ per cent, cheaper medium and coarse. Market has slightly advanced during the last week. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., received the following cablegram from their London agents, dated January 12: —The following vessels have arrived in time for consignments of wool by them to be offereel in the next series:—Arawa, Fordsdale, Mahia, Rangitiki and Rotorua. Gold Mining Returns The Mossy Creek dredge reports a return of 4Ooz. from 10,310 cubic yards worked in 147 hours. The Nemona dredge return was 51oz. from 15,100 cubic yards worked in 170 hours.
