Big Deal In Christchurch
Dominion Special Service.
CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 13 A
A deal in valuable shop property in the city has been completed. The premises sold are those known as the Harris Shoe Depot at 691 Colombo Street, adjoining the south side of Kincaid’s, Ltd., grocers. The building, a two-storied one, has a frontage of more than 16 feet to Colombo Street and a depth of a little more than a chain. The vendors were Mrs, F. J. Harris and Mr. C. E. Good, Christchurch, who have been carrying on the Harris Shoe Depot in partnership. Tlie actual purchase price and the names of the purchasers have not been disclosed, but it is understood that an amount approaching £15,000 was paid for the property. The new owners have not yet decided what use will eventually be made of the building, but it is believed that tliey intend to hold it in tlie meantime for investment purposes. An interesting feature of the building is that it Ims had only two occupiers in the 60 years it has been up. Il was built, under the terms of a building lease by Kincaid’s, Ltd., and they occupied it for 26 years. The Harris Shoe Depot followed Kincaid’s and has been there ever since.
