Aeroplanes Leave For Tauranga •

Two of the Wellington Aero Club’s machines left Rongotai aerodrome for Tauranga yesterday. They will be present at the opening of the Tauranga aerodrome today. The first machine, the Waco, was piloted by Squadron Leader E. M. F. Grundy accompanied by Miss B. Turner and two other passengers, and the second, the Whitney Straight, was piloted by Mr. J. Nelson accompanied by Mr. M. Coxan. The Wairarapa Aero Club’s Whitney Straight machine piloted, by Mr. J. Kirkealdie also left Rongotai for Tauranga yesterday. The Christchurch Club’s Monospar which has been undergoing an extensive overhaul at Rongotai was given a successful test flight yesterday. The pilot, Squadron Leader G. L. Stedman, will take the machine back to Christchurch today.

Piloted by Mr. P. van Asche, the New Zealand Aerial Mapping Company’s Monospar machine arrived at Rongotai from Hastings yesterday morning. Mr. van Asche, who was accompanied 'by two passengers, left Rongotai later on the'return trip to Hastings.

Mr. A. Pritchard left Rongotai in the Public Works Department’s Whitney Straight machine for Auckland yesterday and returned at 7 o’clock last evening.
