AIR FORCE POSITION
Resident Medical Officer APPOINTMENT MADE The appointment of Dr. A. L. Young, M. 8., Ch.B., F.R.C.S., of Wellington, as resident medical officer at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station at Wigram Aerodrome, Christchurch, was announced by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, yesterday. The rapid development of military aviation in New Zealand had led to the appointment, the Minister said. Dr. Young has been granted the rank of Flight Lieutenant and been appointed for a period of five years. _He will commence duty on February 15. Dr. Young was a cadet at Duntroon Royal Military College from 1919 to 1922, subsequently completing his medical studies and graduating in 1927 M. 8., Ch.B. at Edinburgh University. Till ’ 1930, he held medical and surgical appointments in the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, and in other English and Scottish hospitals when he passed the examination for Fellow of the (Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Since 1930, Dr. Young has practised in Wellington, and has held appointments as surgical clinical assistant and anaesthetist in 'the Wellington Hospital. During the past four years he has been a member of the New Zealand Medical Corps.
