WORLD EXPENDITURE ON ARMAMENTS
Europe Responsible For Big Proportion
GENEVA, January 10. World expenditure on armaments in 1938, excluding Germany, totalled £3,400,000,000, compared with £2,800,000.000 in 1937, according to the League’s Armaments Year Book. The figures exclude semi-military works like roads, aerodromes, etc. The world’s seven groat Bowers were responsible for 75.7 per cent, of the total expenditure and European countries alone were responsible for 72.3 per cent, of the military expenditure.
