YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Wellington.— After a prolonged thunderstorm and heavy showers ip the early morning, the weather was fine and mild, with a moderate to strong northwesterly wind. The minimum temnt'.rature during Thursday night was 4S.2deg., and the maximum yesterday 62.9 deg. At 3.30 p.m. the temperature was 59.7 deg., and the barometer read 29.992 in. Palmerston North. — Overcast, with heat showers iu the morning, and heavier showers in the afternoon. Temperature warm.
Wanganui.— Showery, with intermittent sunshine and a fresh westerly breeze. Temperatures mild. Sea moderate. New Plymouth.—A heavy thunderstorm of short duration in the early morning, then overcast to clear conditions, with heavy rain showers, during the day. The barometer at 5 p.m. read 29.75 in. Waipuhurau. — Warm and muggy with a maximum temperature of 76deg. and a barometer reading of 29.(J8in. Napier and Hastings.— Fine, sunny, and very warm, with a north-west breeze. Auckland. — Fine with a moderate northwest to north-north-west wind blowing. The maximum temperature was 74 deg. and barometric pressure fell fairly rapidly, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.8 in. Christchurch.— Dull and warm for the greater part of the day. A light northwesterly breeze veered to the southwest late iii the afternoon and a violent thunderstorm lasted an lion 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. A total of 68 points of rain fell. The barometer at 5 p.m. read 2O.Gsin. and was almost steady. Dunedin.— Dull with warm temperatures and heavy showers. There was no wind. Tiie barometer was steady at 29.70 in., and the maximum temperature was 68deg.
