TE RAPA GALLOPS

Birthday Boy Works Attractively

Dominion Special Service

HAMILTON. December 16.

The No. 1, grass was available for galloping at Te Rapa this morning, but only in a few isolated instances were horses sent against the watch. The going was in splendid order and. providing further rain is not experienced, the track tomorrow will be in splendid order for racing.

Birthday Boy (Thomson) hit out attractively over seven furlongs in 1.32, and impressed bv the manner in which he revelled in his task. The Te Awamutu Cup candidate is in splendid fettle for tomorrow. .. t i Dictate (McKenzie) was slightly in front of Arctic King (Gilmer), with Gay Lap (James) two lengths away, at the completion of five furlongs in 1.4. Both Dictate and Arctic King worked freely and will lack nothing on the score of condition for pending engagements. Charade (Gilmer) nnd Gay Son (Kerr) were associated over a round, running the last seven furlongs in 1.364. They wore travelling well within themsleves throughout and are in solid condition for engagements ahead. Galloping Acre (Thomas) got to the end of six furlongs in 1.164, the last five being cut out in 1.45. a useful effort for n horse of his class. Tosh (McKenzie) shaped brilliantly over three furlongs in 36 4-5.
