Three of t.he four members of Auckland's Wilding Shield team will be taking part in various tournaments at Christmas time, as a prelude to the New Zealand championship meeting to be held iu Christchurch, starring on December 31. N. G. Sturt will defend his singles and doubles titles in Wellington before going to Christchurch, his partner in the men’s doubles being D. G. France, who, incidentally, will not compete in the national championship. • J. T. -Mayson ami J. W. Gunn will compete in the Canterbury championships. in which the former did so well last year. They will play together in the doubles, but for the New Zealand meeting Maysou in to partner Sturt, and Gunn will play with Bedford, the same line-up as for the forthcoming Wilding Shield match with Waikato. , In the mixed doubles event, J. XV. Gunn ami Miss Margaret Beverley, present holders of the title, will defend. Mayson will be partnered by Miss Thelma Poole (Canterbury), and Bedford by Miss E. Plummer (Wellington). Sturt will play with Miss May Hardeamle. Australia, who recently won the doubles and mixed doubles titles of Queensland, and was runner-up in the singles to Mrs. Westacott, recently ranked as high ns No. 3 in Australia. Miss Hardcastle’s ranking last season was No. 10. but she is certain to improve considerably on this ranking during the present season.
