OBITUARY

Mr. W. G. Shepherd

The death occurred in Wellington last week of Mr. William Galloway Shepherd, who collapsed when driving his motor-car in Jervois Quay. Mr. Shepherd. who was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Shepherd, Reefton, was in business in Napier from 1920 to the time of the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931, when his premises were destroyed. Recently he moved to Wellington as local representative for the Napier woollen mills. Mr. Shepherd leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs. M. Bowen, Wellington, and Miss Helen Shepherd, a probationer nurse in the Wellington Hospital. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister. These are Judge G. P. Shepherd, of the Native Land Court; Mr. N. F. Shepherd. D. 5.0., who was a' colonel in the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, but has recently been attached to the Cameron Highlanders: Mr. A. D. Shepherd. Ashburton; and Miss Helen Shepherd, Reefton. The funeral was held at Karori on Saturday. Mrs. Eliza Roband Mrs. Eliza Roband. widow of the late Mr. Peter Roband, died in the Public Hospital, Greytown, on Friday, says a "Dominion” Special Service message. She was a well-known and much-re-spected resident of the district and had been for some time in delicate health. Mrs. Roband leaves an adult family, of whom Miss Dolly Roband is the onlyone living at home. The other members of the family are married. Mrs. Roband was 75 years of age.
